Read what Mr. Dennis M. Egan, Jr., aka, "Teacher DJ," has to say about the message behind the lyrics for the song, "Tenth Graders (It's Not Easy)."
Mr. Egan strives to write songs for students from around our State. He began this song for students when he was substitute teaching with Ninth Graders at CHS back in February 2022. This song is about having a bright future and it's connected to the fact that students can always hope for better things, even when they are going through difficult times. This is the second version with the intention of a third in 2024 and a fourth and final in 2025.
It's not easy being an adolescent in Grade 10. There are many responsibilities that children at this age are faced with and they should be encouraged to know that their hard work will pay off. High school students should note that the struggles and disappointments that they face are only a small part of the big picture. They have a brighter future regardless of the current trials they may find themselves in. It is important to communicate to them that there are always caring parents, teachers, administrators and friends who can help them to navigate through the various pressures they face as they take upon themselves more responsibility in life. Good citizenship begins with personal responsibility and learning how to make a positive difference in the life of others. Students will have success in life when they set their thoughts upon the principle of perseverance and pursuing their dreams with passion and joy. "Teacher DJ" recorded this song for the CHS Students while visiting a studio in Metro-Detroit. This song features Mr. Gerald Johnson and Dennis Egan, III. |
